SSE and Equinor hail first of 277 units that will support GE Haliade-X turbines at massive development off eastern England

The first foundation for the 3.6GW Dogger Bank project is in the North Sea, marking a new milestone for what will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm.

The transition piece and foundation were the first that will support 277 GE Haliade-X turbines at the £9bn ($11bn) project off eastern England, led by Norwegian energy giant Equinor and UK utility SSE and destined to power up to six million homes when completed by 2026.

The foundations feature a unique split-level transition piece and an 8-metre flange that is the world’s largest, according to the developers.
